Hosted by the School of Art + Design, Hamza Walker will share his professional experiences with curating and teaching. Reception with the artist will follow immediately after the lecture.

Hamza Walker: Black is, Black Ain’t
SCHOOL OF INTERDISCIPLINARY ARTS
Hosted by Interdisciplinary Arts, Hamza Walker will discuss the exhibition Black Is, Black Ain’t that he curated in 2008. His talk will focus on how this exhibition demonstrated a rhetorical shift in the idea of race (‘blackness’) as a curatorial, cultural, and art practice. This will take place at Baker University Center, Room 239. A PANEL DISCUSSION will follow his talk and a reception will follow immediately after the event.
