Hailing from New York, Jon Naveh's involvement in Film Studies is certainly unique. Since partaking in his undergraduate degree from SUNY Potsdam, Jon has been bridging the gap between film and American, European, and Soviet history. Relishing in the opportunity to explore outside the normal constraints of a typical college education, Jon created his own interdepartmental major entitled Contemporary History & Film Studies. Through this program, Jon wrote his senior history seminar thesis "Apocalypse Then: A History of America’s Vietnam War Cinema", and co-developed three independent studies:
LITR 398 Cold War Culture In Film
COMM 398 Film Studies: The New Hollywood Era
COMM 498 Film Studies: The Problematic 1970s
In addition to film and history, Jon's interests lie in indie and foreign horror, quiet thrillers, modern directors, and John Carpenter.
