Daniel King

Writer/Photographer, Dean's Office

In supporting the College of Fine Arts, Daniel is the primary writer/editor for a series of news stories, profiles, and features published on the web and in print (archived here), as well as an ongoing audio discussion series (podcast) called Talking Studio providing a platform for dialogue with students about their current creative research and practice. He also coordinates and produces web content for the schools and divisions within the College, and coordinates event promotions, press releases, and the OHIO Fine Arts online calendar.

In addition to serving as the communications writer/photographer with the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University, Daniel is a working visual artist. His work is primarily lens-based, consisting of films, videos and photographs which have been screened and exhibited all over the midwest, across the United States and Canada, as well as in Colombia, Australia, and Croatia.

After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Columbus College of Art & Design, a short stint as a public affairs officer in the U.S. military, and a commercial art career, Daniel now occupies a rust-belt fault line between the urban and the rural, as an artist and educator— and conitnues a lifelong interest in the trappings, failures, and magic of the photographic image.
