In late July I traveled to Lewsiton, Maine, to attend the Bates Dance Festival. I was lucky enough to take class and work with Larry Keigwin of Keigwin & Company, a very well known modern dance company in New York City. In his repetory class, we created a brand new piece in which we entitiled "Puppetville". I got the experience of working with a professional choroeographer, but was also able to explore my creativity as a dancer as well as choroeographer in helping to make this piece. I was also able to study with Omar Carrum, and amazing dancer and choreographer from Mexico. Bates was a such an uplifting, inspiring, and moving(literally) experience, and something I think every modern dancer should experience once in their life. I have made friendships and connections there that I know will last a lifetime.
