Kevin Varney

Digital Fabrication Technician, Art

Kevin Varney is a contemporary sculptor in the Midwestern United States. His use of new technologies combined with traditional fabrication skills are showcased in the objects, installations and time based experiences he produces. In 2015 to 2016 he was the recipient of the University of Georgia’s Post-MFA Fellowship in Sculpture and Foundations where he spent a year teaching and researching. He has received numerous awards and scholarships through exhibitions, research and service to his field including the Jim Killy Art Scholarship, Terry Burnette Memorial Scholarship, Dorothy Dille Materials Grant, among others. He continues to expand his use of digital technology and fabrication techniques and in 2014 built his own 4×4 foot CNC Router. It has been a crucial component to the development of his practice and for sharing the capabilities of digital fabrication technologies with the communities he engages with.
