Graduate Requirements

The School of Music offers an impressive array of graduate music degree programs designed to meet the professional career interests of students. All students who seek admission to Ohio University with a major in Music must audition. The audition is for both admission and talent-based scholarship decisions.

Audition dates are scheduled for:

  • Saturday, December 8, 2018
  • Saturday, January 26, 2019
  • Saturday, February 16, 2019
  • Monday, February 18, 2019
  • Saturday, February 23, 2019

Students should apply to Ohio University, after which they will receive an email asking them to choose one of the above audition dates.

Students will also be asked to complete an information form asking for their applied instrument, expected major area of study (Composition, Conducting, Music Education, Music History, Performance, Emphasis in Performance and Pedagogy, Music Therapy, or Music Theory).

Students who desire to audition but cannot attend one of the above-listed audition dates should call the School of Music (740.593.4244) to determine whether the division faculty will be able to accommodate a different audition date for you. Please know that while an audition other than the dates above will be considered for admission, students may not be considered for talent based scholarships.
