Admission Requirements and Process

Bachelor of Music: Piano Performance or Piano Performance/Pedagogy

Auditioning students will perform one composition from each of the following categories:

  • Baroque
    • A prelude and fugue or other major work by J.S. Bach (Two Part Inventions are not acceptable)
  • Classical
    • First movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven
    • (excluding Mozart Sonata, K. 545, Beethoven Sonatas, Op. 49, Nos. 1 and 2, and Op. 79)
  • Romantic, Impressionistic, or Contemporary eras

All repertoire must be performed from memory, with the exception of compositions requiring extended compositional techniques. A comprehensive repertoire list should be submitted with the application or presented to the jury at the outset of the audition. This list should include repertoire, both solo and chamber, that has been studied and performed.

Majors: Music Education, Music Therapy, Composition

Auditioning students will perform one composition from each of the following categories. Memorization is optional, but preferable.

  • Baroque
  • Classical
  • First movement from a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or
  • Beethoven
  • Romantic, Impressionistic, or Contemporary eras
