Sterling Hurst

MFA Film Student

Born in Virginia and raised in North Carolina, Sterling received a B.F.A. in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Post graduation, Sterling established himself as an award-winning film actor.   He’s appeared in over 50 TV commercials for brands including NASCAR, Duke Energy, and Mountain Dew.  

On the big screen, Sterling has been directed by big hitters like George Gallo (Bad Boys) and shared scenes with M. Emmet Walsh (The Jerk), Meagan Fay (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Xander Berkeley (Terminator 2, Candyman) and many others he grew up watching.  He’s made appearances on TV shows like Swamp Murders(Discovery ID) and Nashville (CMT).

Sterling is thrilled to bring his industry experience to Ohio University, to step behind the camera, and start the next chapter of his artistry as a writer/director. 

Sterling’s favorite movies are Dumb & Dumber & Forrest Gump. He aspires to create content that — regardless of genre — wildly entertains.
