Carmen Pierce

MA Film Student

Carmen Pierce is from Durham, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University where she majored in Film and Television. Upon producing several student films, as well as writing and directing her own, Carmen spent a semester in Los Angeles garnering expertise from working on independent film sets, to her time as an intern for Skydance Media and Silver Pictures respectively. After graduation, Carmen was accepted into Columbia University’s Columbia Publishing Course held in Oxford, UK for individuals pursuing a career in book publishing. However, after completing the course, her love of film won out over books and led her to pursue her Master’s in Film Studies.  

Her current research interests include narrative and authorial intent, modern spectatorship, and women and minorities and the roles they occupy in mainstream films. After Ohio University, Carmen plans to pursue a career teaching film at the university level.
