Payments are made to Ohio University students for a variety of reasons. The type and purpose of the payment determines how it should be processed and whether it must be reported to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as taxable income and/or included as a financial aid resource when determining a student’s overall eligibility for federal, state and institutional financial aid and scholarships
A Student Payment Release Form is used to request payments be made directly to the student. Types of payments on this request can be a scholarship, prize or award, housing or living stipend, educational reimbursement, or educational travel award. Please review the Student Payment Guidelines for more details.
When submitting a Student Payment Release request:
- The payment will be issued directly to the student by direct deposit or by check mailed to the student’s address on file. Checks are only printed and mailed on Fridays.
- Students should sign any required agreements before a Student Payment Release Form is submitted.
- If a student is to be presented an award at a banquet or ceremony: It is suggested that a certificate of award be presented and then the Student Payment Release Form may be submitted. Payment will be issued directly to the student once the Student Payment Release Form is submitted to our office.
- A Multiple Student Attachment can be submitted with the Student Payment Release form if muliple students are receiving the same payment for the same term.
