Interim Vice President for Finance & Administration

Mark Heil

 

Mark Heil is the Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration for Ohio University. In this capacity, he serves as a leader in developing opportunities and initiatives that advance the mission of the university by strengthening the relationship between fiscal and academic policy, integrating strategic planning with fiscal decisions, and providing resources for investment in improvements and new initiatives. 

As head of the Division of Finance and Administration, Mark oversees Finance (including accounting and financial reporting, tax, and regulatory compliance), Treasury, Procurement, Human Resources, Facilities (including Facilities Planning, Campus Operations, and Architectural and Design), Real Estate, Parking and Transportation, Budget and Planning, and the campus Police Department. He is part of the University’s executive leadership team and is a member of the President’s Council.

Prior to joining Ohio University, Mark served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Boise State University, in Idaho, for over five years. As a senior member of the executive team, Mark participated in the most critical operating and strategic decisions for the university. In his role as CFO, Mark’s responsibilities crossed Finance, Treasury, Budget and Planning, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities and Campus Operations, and oversight of the Morrison Center for the Performing Arts and the ExtraMile Arena (the University’s basketball and commercial event venue).

Mark served as Vice president and Corporate Controller for Micron Technology, Inc., a global Fortune 200 company providing advanced memory solutions to the computing, networking, mobile, industrial and automotive segments. Mark was responsible for the company’s global accounting operations, financial reporting, finance systems, and compliance. He also led the finance integration of many acquisitions through the consolidation of the memory industry. Prior to being named as Corporate Controller, Mark served as Controller of International Operations, Corporate Controller of Micron Electronics, Inc. (the Company’s majority-owned publically-traded subsidiary manufacturing person computers and servers), Financial Reporting Manager,  and Internal Audit Manager.

Mark worked in the Boise office of PricewaterhouseCoopers in the business assurance group for over six years prior to joining Micron.  As an auditor, his clients included semiconductor and other manufacturing, financial institutions and life insurance.  Earlier in his career, Mark worked in Branch Operations for a regional financial institution in southern Idaho.

Mark is a graduate of Boise State University with a BBA degree and majors in Accounting and Computer Information Systems.  He holds a CPA license in the state of Idaho and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Idaho Society of Certified Public Accountants, He also proudly serves on the board of directors for the Boise Philharmonic.
