Who Are We?
Center for Entrepreneurship at Ohio University
The Center for Entrepreneurship at Ohio University launches a new era of entrepreneurial education and support, university-based technology commercialization, and regionally focused business development in southeastern Ohio. A partnership of Ohio University’s College of Business and Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, the center builds upon and raises to new levels longstanding efforts at the University and throughout the region to provide entrepreneurial education, business assistance services, and investment capital for entrepreneurs and start-up businesses. Coordinating University resources through the center creates exciting new opportunities for internationally competitive entrepreneurial studies, enhanced commercialization of faculty research, and coordinated support for entrepreneurship, business development, and job creation.
While the center’s roots are grounded in Appalachia, its vision and aspirations have a broader trajectory. It brings to life ideas and innovation that will change lives and create both economic opportunity and prosperity. Equally important, the work the center supports will contribute materially to solving the pressing problems of not only our region, but also those of our state, nation and world.
The College of Business provides a distinctive learning environment that actively engages students, faculty, and the business community in developing knowledge and skills relevant for success in a complex, global economy.
This environment stimulates student learning and faculty research so that our graduates are able to: a) apply a holistic, integrated approach to business problems; b) apply the communication, leadership, team and technological skills needed to succeed in their business careers; c) understand how to work with people from other cultures and to operate effectively in other countries; and d) understand the social responsibilities of individuals and organizations and evaluate the ethical dimensions of decisions in a business context.
The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs is a catalyst for regional, state and national collective impact in the areas of entrepreneurship, energy and the environment, and public and social engagement policy areas. Ranked as the 39th Most Innovative Public Service Schools in the country, the Voinovich School was also recently elevated to the top 100 U.S. News and World Report Best Public Affairs Grad Schools. By blending real-world problem solving and government, nonprofit sector and industry partnerships with education, students are offered unique learning opportunities as they prepare for careers serving the public interest in Ohio University's rural region and beyond.
