Research

Whether using microalgae to bioremediate carbon emissions from flue gas or adapting fuel cells to use the power of coal to support energy independence, our research addresses both short- and long-term issues related to energy production from coal. The Ohio Coal Research Center has completed or been awarded more than $6 million since 2001 in external research contracts from the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, NASA, the National Science Foundation, the Ohio Coal Development Office and industrial sources.
