The Ohio Coal Research Center, part of Ohio University’s Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Environment (ISEE), comprises a multidisciplinary team of researchers whose purpose is to develop new sustainable energy conversion technologies. Our work addresses the environmental impacts of energy production, transmission, and generation in concurrence with the missions of our research sponsors to support engineering discovery for the long term benefit of our region, the nation, and the world.

Our core values are integrity, innovation, education, and responsibility. Through our work, we support our philosophy to use domestic resources for the purpose of environmentally responsible energy independence.
