Accreditation

Like physicians and attorneys, professional engineers in the United States are licensed or registered, unless exempt by the laws of a particular state, because their work affects public welfare, health, and safety. The first step in becoming a registered or licensed professional engineer is to hold a degree from an accredited engineering program.

The undergraduate chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, energy engineering, industrial and systems engineering, and mechanical engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

The undergraduate computer science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

The engineering technology and management program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering.

The aviation flight curriculum is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
