Baker Ballroom

A longstanding highlight of the SSP sessions, the International Astronaut Panel on Wed., June 17, from 8:30-10 p.m. in Baker University Center Ballroom will give ISU participants and the public the opportunity to interact with an outstanding group of spaceflight veterans who represent more than 40 years of international spaceflight experience on most every vehicle that has taken humans into space.

The panel will feature Jack Schmitt, the Lunar Module pilot of 1972's Apollo 17 mission and the only scientist to walk on the moon; Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli, who flew on Space Shuttle Mission STS-120 in 2007 and flew on Soyuz to the International Space Station to serve as flight engineer for Expedition 26/27 during 2010; Canadian astronaut Bob Thirsk, who flew aboard Space Shuttle for Spacelab mission STS-78 in 1996 and flew to the ISS aboard Soyuz as flight engineer for Expedition 20/21 in 2009; and Soyeon Yi, who is the first South Korean in space and flew aboard Soyuz to the International Space Station in 2008.

Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev, who was previously announced as a panelist, will no longer be available to participate.
