Ohio University’s Russ College of Engineering and Technology will become the third host of the  International Seminars on Positioning and Navigation Technologies (GNSS) this spring, from May 14-25.

A 12-day workshop, GNSS is a joint initiative of OHIO, Beihang University in China, and the Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) in France. Internationally recognized experts workshop will deliver fundamental and detailed presentations on navigation topics.

According to Neil D. Thomas Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Michael Braasch, ENAC and Beihang University reached out to OHIO because they wanted to expand upon their existing relationship to form an international workshop.

“We’ve built a good working relationship with ENAC through conference interactions and participation in Ph.D. defenses,” Braasch said. “Being asked to partner with ENAC and Beihang, and host the workshop, also highlights OHIO’s internationally-recognized expertise in navigation,” Braasch said, speaking of research led by EECS faculty and also researchers at the Russ College’s Avionics Engineering Center.

High points of this year’s workshop include hands-on labs on antenna design, GPS receiver design and drone operations. In addition to lecturers from OHIO, ENAC and Beihang, guest lecturers will visit from the Air Force Institute of Technology, Ohio State University, University of Arizona, University of California, and University of New South Wales in Australia.
