Ohio University has a rich history in both electrical engineering and computer science, beginning with the first electrical engineering classes in 1891. Once the first computer arrived at Ohio University in 1957, computer programming classes followed within the year. We developed one of the first computer science programs in the nation in 1966. In 1995, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science merged to form what is now the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
