Tracks/Minors

Within our electrical engineering undergraduate program, you have the choice to concentrate in either traditional electrical engineering or computer engineering. We also offer a minor in computer science to students majoring in other areas of study at Ohio University.

The electrical engineering track prepares you for work ontechnology like electric and alternative energy systems, wired and wireless communications, aviation and satellite navigation systems, controls, manufacturing systems, electronic circuits, lasers, optoelectronics, and semiconductor devices.

The computer engineering track deals with the research, design, development, and testing of computer hardware and software systems, including microprocessors, microcontrollers, digital systems, VLSI/VHDL design, network security, distributed computing, computer architecture, and embedded digital systems.

In today's technical society, understanding how computing works and affects nearly every aspect of our lives can be huge benefit to students in other disciplines. With a minor in computer science, you'll have a foundation of knowledge that can be applied to fields such as business, medicine, education, and even the arts.
