Technology Resources

  • Borrow a computer: If you don’t have access to a computer, Email Grace Sallar.
  • Use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Both are available as free downloads and work best with OHIO technology.
  • Virtual desktop environment (VDI): Remote software delivery has been expanded. There is now a VDI app on the startup page. To get started, download the VMWare Horizon View Client for your OS and install it. Restart, then launch the Horizon Client and add the server mydesktop.ohio.edu. At the VMWare Horizon Client screen, you’ll see our Engineering Desktop 2019 pool, plus many VDI apps like Matlab, Adobe Acrobat DC, Project, etc. Use the VDI apps whenever possible. A VMWare agent will enable you to connect remotely to physical computers in Stocker Center labs 192 and 127, which are labeled as such. For installation or general VDI questions, contact OIT at 740.593.1222 or servicedesk@ohio.edu.
  • Tech support is available daily via OIT until 10 p.m. at 740.593.1222 or servicedesk@ohio.edu
