Students play key roles in journal article

Venktesh Shirure and Karissa Henson, two students from the laboratory of a biomedical engineering program faculty member, are among the authors of an article published by the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications.

Shirure, a chemical and biomolecular engineering PhD student, is the lead author of the article "Gangliosides expressed on breast cancer cells are E-selectin ligands." Henson, a spring 2010 BME master's graduate, is among the other authors. Their advisor, Monica Burdick, is the corresponding author. The other authors are Ronald L. Schnaar of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Leonardo Nimrichter of Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
