Faculty member is co-investigator on major electron microscope grant

Feb. 3, 2012

BME faculty member Savas Kaya is a co-investigator on a major equipment grant from the National Science Foundation to set up an electron microscope facility on campus. The microscope will provide atomic resolution images to the researchers investigating novel materials and interfaces.

Gerardine Botte, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering, is principal investigator on the award.

The microscope will advance Kaya's research, which focuses in part on micro- and nano-scale sensor fabrication for nano-medical applications. Kaya, associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science, is one of four co-investigators.
