1804 Fund committee funds purchase of microCT scanner

September 13, 2013
Biomedical engineering program faculty member Jundong Liu is one of the recipients of a $75,000 Ohio University Foundation Board 1804 Fund award for the acquisition of a microCT scanner.

Liu, an associate professor of computer science in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, is joined by Lawrence Witmer of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Scott Hooper of the Department of Biological Sciences.

Medical image analysis is the focus of Liu's research. He and his research group develop advanced segmentation and registration techniques for longitudinal brain atrophy measurement in Alzheimer's patients,  subcortical structure analysis (with the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Sciences), and regional fat quantification in mice (with researchers from Ohio University's Edison Biotechnology Institute).
