Lydia Seiter

Ambassador 2019-2020
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Expected Graduation: Spring 2020

According to her father, Lydia has been turning wrenches ever since she could hold one. Working as a mechanic in her family’s car repair shop, she discovered her passion for technical problem-solving. She sought a challenge and greater understanding of the world around her, so she chose chemical engineering at Ohio University, following a horde of cousins, aunts, and uncles into the Bobcat family.

A Russ Legacy Cutler Scholar, Lydia has volunteered on a trail crew in California’s national parks and studied abroad in Thailand. She has participated in undergraduate research on biomedical engineering with Monica Burdick, completed a molecular diagnostics internship at biotechnology company Quidel, a chemical engineering co-op at DuPont, and an environmental engineering internship at Ford Motor Company.

Lydia enjoys training Brazilian jiu-jitsu and assisting with community drawing classes at the Dairy Barn Arts Center. This year, she is also serving as the president of the Engineering Ambassadors.
