Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Expected Graduation: Spring 2020

Ohio University has become Alvin’s “home away from home” with its small campus and proximity to his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. The vast, picturesque landscapes of Hocking Hills remind him of his parents’ hometown in West Virginia. As a John Newton Templeton Scholarship recipient, Alvin is honored to be a part of the Templeton legacy at OHIO.

As an industrial and systems engineering student, Alvin actively seeks new knowledge about the field and opportunities to diversify the degree.

He gained real-world experience at his summer internship as a 2019 Summer Work Experience Law (SWEL) Scholar where he worked in the Graydon GROW Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Internship Program, gaining experience in both the legal and non-profit industries.

In addition to the Engineering Ambassadors, Alvin is a member of the Presidential Leadership Society, the Robe Leadership Institute, and is vice-president of Alpha Pi Mu, the industrial engineering honor society.

In his free time, Alvin enjoys music composition, volunteering, bowling, creative writing (especially the sci-fi genre) and corn hole.
