Colleen Carow leads Ohio University’s Russ College of Engineering and Technology Office of Communications. She and her team develop and execute marketing communications strategies and tactics, including branding efforts, websites, videos, social media, publications, media relations, executive communications, and events including board meetings, alumni events, and international events promoting the Russ Prize with the National Academy of Engineering.

Responsible for leading the development of the Russ College’s “Create for Good” identity, she was previously the marketing executive for a $1 billion service line at EDS, now an HP company, and participated in the company’s succession planning program. In other positions there, she managed the corporate creative services team responsible for corporate branding, a corporate communications team, and led the production of two annual reports for the then-Fortune 75 company.

Prior roles include the first director of development communications at Ohio University, where she wrote the proposal for the university’s then-largest gift of $20 million; communications officer for the Southeastern Ohio PBS and National Public Radio affiliates, where she produced and anchored live television and radio; instructor of grammar, technical writing, and composition at Ohio University; and small business manager.

A singer-songwriter and licensed foster parent, she holds an M.B.A., an M.A. in English, and a B.S. in Journalism (cum laude), all from Ohio University.
