Carl Hawes is involved with design, implementation, application, and processing of multiple landing, navigation, and communication systems. Some of the systems are in Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), GPS Local Area Augmentation System (LAAS), VHF Data Broadcast (VDB) research, and Distance Measuring Equipment (DME). Hawes is a consultant for the FAA program office concerning DME systems, system safety of various ground based landing systems (DME, ILS, VOR), and specification/requirements development throughout the National Airspace System (NAS).
