PreK-12 Outreach

OCEMS supports a variety of outreach projects and events for PreK-12 students in our region. One project is the Peace, Love, and Math Club.

This club was established in order to provide a space for children to see themselves as capable and competent mathematics problem solvers, and to see a diversity of mathematical strengths among people.

Another outreach project that OCEMS supports for children are summer camps. One such summer camp is the Moving with Math and Literacy summer camp that Dr. Koestler developed in collaboration with Dr. Julie Francis of the Stevens Literacy Center, based on their work with Physical Education Teacher Educator Dr. Brian Rider. This camp integrates math, literacy, and movement and provides children with a wide variety of opportunities for kids to play and learn.

OCEMS is always looking for partners with whom to collaborate. If interested in partnering on an outreach project, please contact us at OCEMS@ohio.edu.
