The Ohio University Patton College of Education Teacher Leader Endorsement is designed to meet the needs of teachers who aspire to leadership roles in their schools and districts. Participants will gain knowledge and skills to enable them to provide quality professional development for their colleagues, coach and mentor other teachers, facilitate positive school/community relations, organize and analyze data and assist their principals with school improvement efforts. The Teacher Leader Endorsement will also help educators meet the requirements for the Lead Professional Educators License, the highest qualification on Ohio’s highest 4-tiered Licensure Structure.

Additionally, with advisor’s approval, the coursework required for the Teacher Leader Endorsement may be used to meet course requirements in other graduate education programs. Courses in the program are as follows:

Admission Requirements

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Possess a professional license/certificate
  • Have completed 4 years of successful teaching
  • Have earned a master’s degree from an accredited institution prior to being admitted to the endorsement program
