Upward Bound Student Admission

Program Eligibility:

Eligibility for admission to the Ohio University Upward Bound program is determined by the following factors:
  • Annual family income AND/OR;
  • Potential first-generation college student.
  • Currently a freshman, sophomore, or junior in an Upward Bound partnership high school.
  • Have a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA.
  • The drive and interest to pursue a post-secondary education following graduation from high school.
 

Recruitment:

Recruitment sessions for potential participants take place during the months of September and October at Upward Bound partnership high schools. Each school has a scheduled visit where an Upward Bound staff member provides an informational session to interested students. Recruitment for the 2016-2017 academic year has closed.

 

Program Admission Application:
The deadline to apply to the Ohio University Upward Bound program during the 2016-2017 academic year has passed. Please contact our office if you would like information on how to apply next year. 
 
Students must submit the following with their application in order to be considered for admission to the Upward Bound program. Incomplete applications will NOT be reviewed.
  • Signed and completed Upward Bound application
  • High school transcript
  • Guidance counselor recommendation
  • Student essay
  • Copy of federal income tax return statement or notarized official document that shows annual income (taxable income). DO NOT SEND W-2. The current federal income guidelines can be found here.
 

Completed applications can be  submitted to high school counselors or submitted to UB through mail, fax, or email (not encouraged) to:
