The staff of the Stevens Literacy Center seeks and secures external funds to design and implement numerous and diverse state and national projects. Each year, the staff writes grants for more than $1 million to fund programs to improve access to or professional development for addressing literacy issues, especially in Appalachian Ohio. Public entities – the U.S. Department of Education, the Ohio Board of Regents, the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services – and private foundations – Martha Holden Jennings Foundation – have generously funded current and recent projects.
