Amesville Elementary is one of two elementary schools in the Federal Hocking School District. The school serves preschool-6th grade students who are spread out over a large geographic area. Amesville has a long history of working with partnership students beginning with CARE in the mid-80’s.
Since 1987 Federal Hocking Schools have been working with students in the CARE program. CARE students are placed at Amesville, Federal Hocking Middle School, and Federal Hocking High School. The CARE program began serving K-6 candidates and then moved on to serve Middle Child, Adolescent-Young Adult, and Multi-age majors. The CARE program emphasizes democratic and constructivist teaching philosophies with the goal of Creating Active and Reflective Educators.
Early Childhood Education Professional Development School Partnership (ECE PDS Partnership)
This partnership is for candidates who are admitted to advanced standing and starting their methods coursework during the winter quarter of their junior year. They spend two full days a week in the classroom, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to fulfill their lab placements for their methods classes. Each cohort of partnership students will be at our building winter, spring, and then fall the following year to complete their methods classes.
Partnership students will develop relationships with the faculty in the building that will assist them in gaining the skills they need to enter the teaching world.
