Chi Sigma Iota, Alpha Chapter

Chi Sigma Iota, the Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International (CSI) was first established at Ohio University in 1985 with the Alpha Chapter. CSI is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). Dr. Thomas J. Sweeney, Counselor Education Professor Emeritus at Ohio University and Executive Director Emeritus of Chi Sigma Iota, was the founding President of Chi Sigma Iota.

CSI is an international honor society that values academic and professional excellence in counseling. We promote a strong professional identity through members (professional counselors, counselor educators, and students) who contribute to the realization of a healthy society by fostering wellness and human dignity.

The mission of Chi Sigma Iota is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership, advocacy, and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling.

The Alpha chapter has active members including current students, alumni, and faculty. We focus on promoting excellence in the profession of counseling and hope to get members more involved in professional development, community engagement, wellness, and more.
