Ohio University Eastern Scholarships & Financial Aid Info: 2016-17

Financial Aid Newsletter - Fall 2016

FAFSA 2016 thumbnailThe 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available to complete with your 2015 tax information. Beginning with 2017-2018 financial aid year, the FAFSA opens October 1, 2016. Students/parents will use tax data from two years prior to the start of the academic year. This allows most students and parents to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to load tax data into the FAFSA. Using the Tool will avoid errors and requests for documentation. For more details on FAFSA changes, visit https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/sites/default/files/2017 -18-fafsa-updates-students-parents.pdf .

Ohio University’s first-priority consideration date is January 15, 2017. This is the date we need the processed results of your FAFSA. Processing time for the FAFSA is approximately two weeks. We recommend that you file the 2017-2018 FAFSA as soon as possible. The FAFSA serves as the application for all federal, state, and institutional financial aid at Ohio University for summer 2017, fall 2017, and spring 2018. Please use school code #003101. You and your parent (if applicable) will use the FSA ID to sign the FAFSA. If you or your parent does not already have a FSA ID, apply for one at https://fsaid.ed.gov.

Should you need assistance filing your FAFSA, the Eastern Campus Student Services Office is offering Free FAFSA Fridays on November 4 and December 2, 2016 and January 6, 2017. Please call 740-699-2536 to set up on individual appointment. We are happy to assist with this important process.

Notes:

  • All scholarships recipients must be admitted to the University, enroll in 15 credit hours on the Eastern Campus each semester, and meet all scholarship criterion to be eligible. Freshmen applicants do not need to submit a separate application but will need to complete the online scholarship application for subsequent years. It is recommended students complete the FAFSA application by the January 15th first consideration deadline as some scholarships are awarded based on financial need.
  • The available number of each scholarship is limited.
  • All scholarships require a minimum of 15 hours taken at Ohio University's Eastern Campus each semester.
  • You must apply for scholarships each academic year.

All students who wish to be considered for scholarships by Ohio University Eastern Campus must complete a Scholarship Application, available through your MyOHIO Student Center. (Freshmen students do not have to complete an application because the admissions application itself serves as the financial aid application.)
