Lisa Jeffries
August 23, 2013 : Jeffries hired at Ohio University Eastern

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – Ohio University Eastern recently announced the hiring of Lisa Jeffries, M. A., as the internship and career specialist.  The position is partially funded by the Konneker Career Services Grant that the Eastern Campus was awarded this past spring.  Jeffries comes to OUE from Hays Landscape Architecture Studio in St. Clairsville, where she was employed as the business development director.

Jeffries attended Ohio Northern University and graduated with a bachelor's of art in communications.  Her undergraduate experiences included stints as a radio disc jockey and as a member of the school's newspaper staff.  She then continued to Salem International University (WV) for a master's of art in educational leadership.

Ohio University Eastern Dean Paul Abraham is glad to have Jeffries on board.  "Many of our students are already making significant connections between their classroom studies and eventual careers through internships, class projects or practicums.  These kinds of experiences are important in helping students persist through college and into professions."

"Fortunately, the Eastern Campus was recently awarded an Ohio University Konneker Fund Grant to help make those experiences a reality for even more students.  It will be wonderful to have Lisa serve as a leader in this effort.  She knows our students and community well."

Jeffries is looking forward to the challenge at OUE.  "I am excited about the opportunity to assist students with internship opportunities and career counseling," she said.  "My hope is to foster collaborative relationships with students and employers in the area."

Jeffries continued, "Students may have questions about life after college, guidance on resume writing, practice with interviewing skills and exploration of job opportunities.  We want to answer these questions and connect them to potential employers.  In turn, I'm anxious to work with community businesses and organize job fairs."

Jeffries and her husband, Joe, reside in in St. Clairsville.  They have been married for 23 years and are the proud parents of two children, Lauren, a junior at Ohio University and Adam, a freshman golfer at Alderson-Broaddus University (WV).

For further information about the internship opportunities at OUE, contact Jeffries at or 740-699-2504.  Fall semester classes begin Monday, August 26.
