(St. Clairsville) Ohio University Eastern faculty member Tracy A. Pritchard recently achieved the rank of Professor of Instruction. Pritchard, a Professor of Social Work Instruction, has been employed by Ohio University since 2005, when he first served as Field Education Coordinator for the Master of Social Work cohort Ohio University Eastern. His work shifted to OHIO Regional Higher Education in 2012 when he began working with the Eastern and Zanesville campuses, teaching and overseeing all social work field placements.

Pritchard also serves as the Campus Coordinator for the Child Welfare University Partnership Program workforce development grant. He has extensive clinical and administrative social work practice experience in the eastern Ohio and the Upper Ohio Valley region of West Virginia. Pritchard earned a Master of Social Work degree with a family concentration at West Virginia University in 1989 and a Bachelor of Public Service with an emphasis in Social Work degree from West Liberty University in 1980.

Teaching from a multi-disciplinary approach, Pritchard describes his teaching philosophy as one which incorporates enthusiasm and compassion in the classroom along with “real world” social work experience. “My teaching strengths include a commitment to preparing social work students for evidence-based practice in a challenging time with diminished resources for the disadvantaged, oppressed, and marginalized individuals within our society,” Pritchard said.
