Associate's in Arts with Social Sciences Emphasis
Associate degree programs are designed for students who wish to lay the foundation for a liberal arts education or for those students who want a stepping stone between their admittance to college and their bachelor's degree. Many entry-level positions now require an associate degree.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
As many entry positions now require an associate degree, obtaining an associate degree can open doors into many career paths. A liberal arts degree, like the Associate in Arts with A Social Science Emphasis, can also provide the foundation for a future bachelor’s degree.

Important Information for Students
Admissions Information
Freshman/First-Year Admission
Students wishing to pursue the Associate in Arts with a Social Science Emphasis have no admissions requirements beyond University admission requirements.
The Associate of Arts with a Social Science Emphasis degree requires a minimum of 60 credit hours. At least 20 of the total credits earned toward the Associate in Arts must be Ohio University credits. In addition, at least 50 percent of the coursework taken in the area of concentration for the degree program must be completed through Ohio University. You must earn at least a 2.0 GPA in the area of concentration and overall to earn the degree.
Associate in Arts with a Social Science Emphasis General Education Requirements
Complete the university’s Tier I quantitative skills and first-year English composition requirements.
