Diversity & Inclusion

Making All People Visible and Valued

At Ohio University, our vision for Diversity and Inclusion is to celebrate all members of our University community and to broaden our collective understanding by uplifting diverse identities, cultures, experiences and perspectives. We recognize that this requires a willingness to have hard conversations, to recognize and call out prejudice, to hear and respect vastly different points of view, and to do all this with civility and grace.

2022 Juneteenth Celebration

Three Ohio University community members link arms together and smile at the 2021 Juneteenth Celebration in Athens

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19 each year, marks our country’s second independence day. Although Juneteenth has long been celebrated in the African American community, this monumental event remains largely unknown to most Americans. This year, Ohio University is celebrating the occasion on Saturday, June 18, with a health walk, festival and more. Students, faculty, staff and members of the OHIO community are all welcomed to partake in the festivities.
