Anyone contacting CPS for counseling will be asked about the urgency of the situation. If your situation is an emergency, you need to let the person scheduling appointments know that you need the earliest available appointment. Emergency, urgent care drop-in appointments are available daily from 9:45 am to 3:15 pm M-F.
During an emergency consultation, the counselor will spend time helping you decide on a plan of action to help you resolve the immediate crisis.
If you have an emergency after hours and need to talk to a counselor immediately, please call 740-593-1616 for our 24/7 Crisis Intervention Service. Should you require emergency care when CPS is not open, please go to your local emergency room or call the Ohio University Police Department 740-593-1911. If you are living on campus in a residence hall, you can also contact your RA or RD for assistance. They will contact either a Counselor-in-Residence or the Counselor-on-Call when necessary.
