Students Eligible to Return to Athens Campus in Phase 2

As President Nellis has announced, OHIO’s phased return to the Athens campus will continue with the launch of Phase 2 on September 28. To implement this next phase as safely as possible, we have prioritized eligibility for students engaged in academic experiences that require access to in-person instruction, specialized equipment, or specific facilities to ensure accreditation or academic progress toward degree requirements. A limited number of students who are approved for an exception through Housing and Residence Life due to extenuating circumstances are included in Phase 2 as well.

Graduate Students

All Athens graduate students were invited to campus in Phase 2. They will have varying levels of access to facilities and resources as determined by academic programs and other commitments. View a complete list of graduate courses that include a face-to-face component in Phases 1 and 2. Please note that Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine students on all campuses were invited back during Phase 1. If you are a graduate student who would like to remain fully remote for Phase 2, please talk with your program to discuss options.

Undergraduate Students

Most undergraduate students who were invited to campus for face-to-face instruction in Phase 2 are enrolled in a course or courses that require access to specialized equipment or facilities or that have significant integrated experiential learning. View a complete list of undergraduate courses that include a face-to-face component in Phases 1 and 2. Please note that many of those courses include a remote option for students who choose not to return to campus at this time.

Some undergraduate students were included in Phase 2 because their program of study has accreditation requirements that require face-to-face instruction. A list of the programs, by specific cohort if applicable, is below:
