Established in 1804, Ohio University is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio and the first in the Northwest Territory. Ohio University is located just over an hour from Columbus, two hours from Cincinnati and three hours from Cleveland and Pittsburgh, PA. Athens is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, art lovers, history buffs, and anyone looking for an escape from the fast pace of the city.
How do I request information regarding hosting a conference at Ohio University?

What dates can I bring a group to Ohio University?
The 2017 summer conference season officially begins on Friday, May 19, 2017 and ends on Friday, August 4, 2017. If your program falls outside of the dates listed, please get in touch with us directly to discuss other options that might be available for your group.
Can Conference Services assist in the coordination of my group’s dining, catering, classroom and meeting space needs?
Conference Services strives to be a one stop shop for all your conference needs. Our office will work to assist with all services requested from dining to on campus accommodations as well as things such as parking and picnics. If you are interested in a specialized service, please do not hesitate to ask, as we will do our best to accommodate or put you in touch with the correct individual that can assist.
How secure are the residence halls at Ohio University?
All Ohio University residence halls are locked 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of our guests and are only accessible to summer guests with an electronic swipe card or University key. Residence halls are staffed with Conference Services Assistants who will also reside with groups for added safety, security and customer service. Additionally, Ohio University Policy Department is located on campus and is provided information on all conferences taking place on campus.
If my guests are traveling long distances, how do I get them to Ohio University?
For guests who need to travel by air, the Columbus International Airport is the closest major airport to Ohio University. Conference Services can assist in the coordination of shuttles from CMH to Athens, Ohio or guests can make their own travel arrangements via the Go Bus here or airport taxi and shuttle services here.

What should I be aware of when hosting minors at Ohio University?
All departments, academic units, external programs, as well as Conference Service's residential staff are required to complete criminal background checks on staff supervising minors (anyone under the age of 18) while residing on campus.
What are the rules for tobacco and alcohol use at Ohio University?
Ohio University is a tobacco and smoke free campus therefore, use of tobacco products is prohibited while on campus, in any of our facilities and/or green spaces.
Alcohol is not permitted in any residence hall where minors will be residing or in any common/public areas.
What are the standard amenities within the residence halls at Ohio University?
Each room within the residence halls has a bed (80” long mattress), wardrobe and dresser space, a desk with a desk chair, a refrigerator/microwave combination unit, Ethernet/network jack, and cable connectivity (no television or coaxial cable provided). Conference Services will do our best to assign groups into residence halls that meets the needs of the overall program with consideration taken in regards to ADA needs, meeting spaces, classrooms, parking lots, extra curricular activities, etc.
All summer conference programs will be assigned to residence halls with either window AC units or central air.
What can I expect when I arrive to campus?
Once at Ohio University, all guests will be greeted by a Conference Services’ staff member and provided materials needed for their stay. Conference Services will also provide a brief introduction of our staff and orientation of what to expect while residing on campus.
Are bed linens available for my guests?
Ohio University Conference Services would be happy to provide bed linens and bath towels to all guests while residing on campus for minimal rental fee. A standard linen packet will be provided upon arrival and includes: bed sheets, a standard pillow, pillowcase, wool blanket, bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth.
