Ziplining and sports on tap for 2018 Dads Weekend

Bobcats, it is time to prepare yourself for dad jokes because it is almost Dads Weekend. Starting Friday, Nov. 2, and going until Sunday. Nov. 4, Dads Weekend is the second of four parent and family weekends during the academic year.

Dads Weekend gives Bobcats the chance to show their dads all that Athens has to offer. This year Dads Weekend is offering events to entertain Bobcats and dads with all different interests.

Friday, Nov. 2

7:30 p.m.: OHIO Hockey vs. Davenport, Bird Area

Bobcats and their dads are invited to head over to Bird Ice Arena to watch as OHIO Hockey takes on the Davenport University Panthers. Tickets are $6 for students and $9 for adults. Tickets can be purchased here.

8 to 11 p.m.: Stargazing and Campfire, The Ridges

Bobcats and their dads can head over to the ridges for a night of stargazing and snacks. Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased here.

Saturday, Nov. 3

10 a.m. Conkle's Hollow Day Hike - Hocking Hills

For those hoping to take in some of southeast Ohio’s fall foliage there will be a day hike at Conkle's Hollow. The $20 ticket includes transportation to and from campus as well as lunch. Those interested in attending may purchase tickets here

10 a.m. – noon: Ziplining at The Ridges

Bobcats and their dads who would rather take in The Ridges from above the ground can check out the 300-foot-long zipline over The Ridges. Tours start every hour on the hour, and last about an hour, from 10 a.m. until noon, then again from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are just $25 and can be purchased here.

10 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Mini Golf, Alden Library

Bobcats and their dads can get a round of golf in all from the comfort of Alden Library. The first, third and fourth floors will be transformed into a miniature golf course for the day. $5 for nine holes and $10 for 18. Tickets can be purchased here.

Noon: 3-on-3 Dads Weekend Basketball Tournament, Ping Center

Bobcats wanting to get a workout in while their dads are in town can go to Ping to compete in a special Dads Weekend 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Registration is required and can be found here. The cost is $20 per team.

1 p.m.: Women’s Basketball, OHIO vs. Walsh, Convocation Center

Bobcats and their dads can stand up and cheer for the lady Bobcats as they take on Cavaliers from Walsh University. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.

3:30 p.m. Men’s Basketball, OHIO vs. Rio Grande, Convocation Center

Bobcats and their dads are invited to the Convocation Center following the women’s basketball game to watch the men’s basketball team take on Rio Grande. The men’s basketball game will feature the Half Time Dogs Disk Flying Show. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.

7:30 p.m.: OHIO Hockey vs. Davenport - Bird Area

Following the OHIO Basketball teams in the Convocation Center Bobcats and their dads can head over and join the Gang Green student section to cheer on the Bobcats as they take on Davenport University one more time. Tickets are $6 for students and $9 for adults. Tickets can be purchased here.

8 to 11 p.m.: Stargazing and campfire, The Ridges

Those were not able to attend the Friday night stargaze or just want to take in the Southeast Ohio sky again are invited to eat smores under the stars one last time this dad’s weekend. Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased here.

8 p.m.: An Evening of Comedy featuring Jay Mohr, Memorial Auditorium - CANCELLED.

Sunday, Nov. 4
