OHIO celebrates Facilities Management and Safety staff

Ohio University Facilities Management and Safety (FMS) leaders recognized staff for their contributions and service to the University on August 16 during the Facilities Management and Safety Picnic and Awards Ceremony, with sessions held in the morning at Nelson Hall and in the evening at Southside Park. Leaders recognized 57 bargaining unit employees for their service anniversaries.

Chief Facilities Officer Steve Wood welcomed all the employees from the various areas comprising FMS and shared his appreciation on behalf of the University. At the 11 a.m. session, he welcomed the staff from Architecture, Design, and Construction (AD&C), which was recently realigned to be part of FMS. Wood highlighted projects that AD&C completed in the past year, including the McCracken Hall renovation and expansion and Jefferson Dining Hall renovation, as well as projects that are near completion such as the Sook Center and Ellis Hall renovations.

“I appreciate what you do every day,” he said. “Your service and dedication has a lasting, visible impact on campus and we value your dedicated service to the Ohio University.”

Wood cited recent accomplishments by Facilities Management and Safety. Those accomplishments include increasing customer service levels for campus constituents, reducing campus energy consumption, reducing their work order backlog, and increasing time spent on preventative maintenance.

Interim Executive Director of Facilities Management Steve Mack joined Wood in recognizing the service of the FMS bargaining unit employees. “It’s important for us to show our recognition of the important work these employees do throughout the year and it’s a great opportunity for us to get together to celebrate their contributions.”
