The Office for University Accessibility invites members of the community, both university and beyond, to participate in a public forum regarding barriers to programmatic access at Ohio University from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in Baker University Center 231.

The forum will be facilitated by consultants from LCM Architects with whom the University has contracted for assistance in completing an ADA Transition Plan.

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act requires public entities to ensure access to facilities, services, and activities. As a method to understand and help entities achieve programmatic accessibility, an ADA Transition Plan is required.

At Ohio University, programmatic accessibility focuses on facilities, programs and services that are open to the public or that serve students. Public input about barriers and priorities to achieve program access is a critical part of the process.

During this forum, participants will be invited to share their experiences and observations of barriers, examples of where accessibility works well, and thoughts of what may be helpful to achieving programmatic access at Ohio University. A summary of the feedback from the forum and additional focus groups will be included in the final plan.

Both the fourth and first floor entrances of Baker Center have one set of doors with push button operators and the elevators provide access to the second floor. Accessible restrooms are located on the second floor with a single user accessible restroom on the first floor.
