Patton College Public Education Video Contest deadline is March 1


During the 2017-2018 academic year, The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education is sponsoring another “Why I Teach!” video contest.

The competition is open to all P-12 educators and teacher leaders in the state of Ohio’s public education system. Teachers—either as individuals or a team—should create a 2-3 minute video about why they are passionate about teaching and leading. A panel of judges will rate the videos on quality, content, overall message, and creativity. Participants are eligible to win the following prizes:

               First place: $1,000

               Second place: $750

               Third place: $500

               Fourth place: $250

 

The Patton College will show the winning videos on May 9, 2018, at the College’s 3rd Annual Teacher Appreciation Gala from 5-7 p.m. in the Baker Center Ballroom. The Gala honors the state of Ohio’s public educators, as well as The Patton College’s future educators, with an evening of food, music, and accolades. All public educators are welcome to attend this event.

The entry deadline for the contest is midnight, March 1, 2018. Participants should send their YouTube link to Kim Barlag, director of communications and design management, at barlagk@ohio.edu.

Winners will be required to provide video footage via a USB drive or Dropbox, so the College can put them on its YouTube page. Please ensure you have all proper permissions/releases if you use students in your videos.

Past winners of the “Why I Teach!” video contest are ineligible until five years have passed.
