OHIO's iCUE Spotlight: Sept. 5-10, 2017

Hey there Bobcats! We hope you had a great Labor Day weekend and are feeling recharged and ready to go! Be sure you check out the official Ohio Calendar of University Events (CUE), your ultimate source for finding the best on-campus activities. From the CUE, you can subscribe yourself and others to get text and email updates and reminders about events and deadlines.

And remember, anyone with an active OHIO ID can create events - it's simple, just click Add Events on the CUE homepage and complete the form! With all the important dates and deadlines in one place, the CUE is your key to making the most of your time at Ohio University.

Here are a few highlights from the week ahead:

Research and Creative Activity Funding Workshops (Tuesday, Sept. 5 - PURF from 4 to 5 p.m. in Alden Library 301U and NSF GRFP from 6 to 7 p.m. in Clippinger Laboratories 332): Students, do you know how to find research funding? Well, there are opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students and OHIO is here to help!

Student Affairs Open Forum (Wednesday, Sept. 6, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Baker University Center Ballroom A): The Division of Students Affairs wants YOUR input! The division is seeking feedback from all members of the Ohio University and local communities. This input will inform the strategic planning process for the future. Make sure your voice is heard! This is the first in a series of open forums, so check the CUE to find the time that works best for you and add it to your calendar or send yourself a text or email reminder.

Foundations of Research 1: Searching as Strategic Exploration (Wednesday, Sept. 6, 3 p.m. to 3:55 p.m., Alden Library Learning Lab 251 with repeat sessions Sept. 7 and 8): This is the first of a free six-part workshop series this semester. Students attending one of this week's sessions will come away with a deeper understanding of the mechanics of how library resources operate and will better understand the benefits of searching in different types of databases and search engines. For each workshop attended, you will earn a digital badge to connect to your LinkedIn account. If you complete all six workshops, you will earn a seventh badge for completing the entire workshop series. Register here.

Sustainability Film Series: How to Let Go of the World and Love All the Things Climate Can't Change ( Wednesday, Sept. 6, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Athena Cinema, 20 S. Court Street): Thanks to the Athena Cinema, the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, Alden Library, and other partners, the Sustainability Film Series has returned for its fifth year. Six eclectic films will be screened this semester with free admission for all. This week, Oscar-nominated director Josh Fox (GASLAND) investigates climate change - the greatest threat our world has ever known. Traveling to 12 countries across 6 continents, the film acknowledges that irreparable damage has already been done; but explores what climate change can't destroy.

#CUETip: Remember, you can add events from the CUE directly to your personal calendar! Start the process with two clicks on any event page: click the "Share It" header, followed by the calendar icon. A blank calendar downloads an iCal file you can add to your Outlook calendar, and a grid calendar adds the events directly into your Google Calendar. You can also send email and text reminders from this same spot!

This Compass series shines a spotlight on unique and high-profile events and important deadlines taken from OHIO's official online Calendar of University Events. Visit calendar.ohio.edu/admin/setupevents.aspx to log in with your OHIO ID and add your organization or department's events to the CUE. Feeling lost?
