Office of Emergency Programs announces upcoming training programs

OHIO's Office of Emergency Programs is pleased to announce two upcoming training programs for faculty and staff:

ALICE (Active Shooter) Training with Ohio University Police Department
Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Baker University Center 240/242
The Office of Emergency Programs has partnered with Ohio University Police for ALICE (Active Shooter) Training. ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate) will be taught by Officer Brandon King who will instruct staff on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event. This event will be live-streamed so that all regional/extension campuses can participate at the following link: https://youtu.be/5ssnXrnr10Q. Because the live stream will not be interactive, questions during the presentation can be emailed to wyatt@ohio.edu and the question will be asked on your behalf.

Athens Campus Active Shooter Tabletop Exercise
Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Baker University Center 240/242
This large-scale training will simulate an active shooter situation on the Athens Campus. The program is designed for “department” participation and the team members should consist of those in key leadership roles. Team members will participate by discussing the actions their unit would take as the event unfolds, and test their preparedness and responsive actions in an informal, low stress environment. This experience should be used as an opportunity to clarify roles and responsibilities of the department leadership as well as staff members. To participate please email the department name and the name of those individuals who will be participating no later than Nov. 30.  If space allows, additional participants may be added after the stated deadline.

Both of the above sessions require pre-registration (due to room capacity) by emailing wyatt@ohio.edu.

If you have questions, please contact Jill Harris, emergency programs manager, at harrisj4@ohio.edu or Bev Wyatt, business continuity coordinator, at wyatt@ohio.edu.
