iCUE Spotlight: July 31-Aug 6, 2017

What's in the CUE this week at Ohio U.

Welcome to Week 13 of the summer semester and Week 6 of the second summer session. Time sure does fly because the first week of August is here! Big things are happening here in Athens this month and students are working hard to finish up their classes and enjoy the rest of summer as new and returning Bobcats settle into campus. As always, check out the official OHIO Calendar of University Events (CUE) to keep up with what's happening on all OHIO campuses!

Don't forget, anyone with an active OHIO ID can add University events - just click Add Events on the CUE homepage to log in and fill out the form. And everyone can register for and set reminders for upcoming events and even add events to your personal calendars!

Here are a few highlights from the week ahead:

Tantrum Theater presents "Into the West" (previews start Tuesday, Aug. 1, 7.30 p.m., Abbey Theater in Dublin): Founded by Ohio University's College of Fine Arts, Tantrum Theater's final run of the summer "Into the West" will run from Aug. 1-19, with preview performances Aug.1-3 and opening night Friday, Aug. 4! With just three actors playing 60 roles and with live music throughout, "Into the West" bursts with imagination and heart - and it's perfect for the whole family. Visit to get your tickets!

Heritage College Convocation 2017 (Saturday, Aug. 5, 2 to 4 p.m., Convocation Center): The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine will celebrate its annual convocation. The members of the class of 2021 from all three campuses will receive their white coats, a symbol of professionalism, to be worn as they accompany physicians in clinical settings. The college also will present the 2017 Philips Medal of Public Service to former Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis for outstanding contributions to health care, education and public service. For those who are unable to attend in person, live streaming video of the event will be available.

Athena Cinema: Summer Family Movie Series (Saturday, Aug. 5, 3 to 5.30 p.m., 20 South Court): Athena Cinema's "Beat the Heat $2 Days" family movie series closes with a double feature of "The Red Balloon" and Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times" accompanied by a live musical performance by Duo Unprepared - also known as OHIO music faculty Roger Braun (percussion) and André Gribou (piano). Tickets are a minimum donation of $2 and proceeds benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Athens County. You do not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event!

And a few more you won't want to miss:
