Nominations for OHIO’s Homecoming Court being accepted

Ten graduating seniors to be selected to represent the Class of 2018

Ohio University is gearing up for Homecoming 2017, and members of the Homecoming planning committee are looking for members of OHIO’s Class of 2018 to play a very special role in this annual tradition of Bobcat pride.

This year’s Homecoming celebration kicks off Oct. 2 and runs through Oct. 7. One of OHIO’s largest and most-spirited events, the theme of this year’s Homecoming is “Back in the Mix, Back on the Bricks” in honor of the School of Music’s 100th anniversary and the Marching 110’s 50th anniversary.

An annual tradition celebrating past, present and future Bobcats, Homecoming Week offers numerous opportunities for members of the OHIO and Athens communities to showcase their Bobcat pride. Among those opportunities is an honor and privilege bestowed upon OHIO’s graduating class – an opportunity to serve on the Homecoming Court.

Ten members of OHIO’s Class of 2018 will be selected to serve on this year’s Homecoming Court, and nominations for this year’s court are being accepted now through 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22.

Members of the Homecoming Court are graduating students who promote the values of Ohio University, take pride in the University, represent the student body and enhance OHIO as a whole. Members of the Homecoming Court represent their class at several events held throughout Homecoming Week.

Everyone is invited to nominate graduating seniors for Homecoming Court by filling out an online form available here. In addition, graduating seniors may nominate themselves by filling out the online form available here

Based on the nominations received, a committee will select 20 candidates to participate in interviews for this year’s Homecoming Court. Those interviews will be held the last week of September and will determine the 10 seniors selected for this year’s court.

All Ohio University students will be invited to vote for this year’s Homecoming king and queen during Homecoming Week. The king and queen will be announced at this year’s Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 7.

OHIO alumni, students invited to share their ‘Bobcat Beats’

Ohio University’s 2017 Homecoming festivities will revolve around the Bobcat-selected theme “Back in the Mix, Back on the Bricks” – honoring the School of Music’s 100th anniversary and the Marching 110’s 50th anniversary and paying tribute to the musical memories every Bobcat makes while at OHIO.

Members of the Homecoming planning committee are encouraging Bobcats past and present to get involved in the Homecoming celebration by sharing their OHIO musical memories.

Bobcats are asked to submit the song or album that best represents their OHIO experience. Ohio University alumni and students may submit their “Bobcat Beats,” as well as a favorite college photo if they’d like, via this online form

“Bobcat Beats” submitted will be displayed throughout OHIO’s Baker University Center during Homecoming Week.
