Save the date: Homecoming 2017 is around the corner

What are you doing on Oct.7? The answer is: joining your friends, family and fellow Bobcats for a full weekend of festivities at the annual Homecoming celebration!

Find your way home to experience Homecoming 2017, themed “Back in the Mix, Back on the Bricks,” which honoring the School of Music’s 100th anniversary and the Marching 110’s 50th anniversary. It is also a nod to memories of the many DJs and musicians who found their way through Athens’ bricks.

"Homecoming is the best time of year! We can't wait to welcome all Bobcats, past, present and even future, to Athens for a fun weekend,” said Dawn Werry, senior director of external relations.

Save the date! The Homecoming festivities begin on Monday, Oct. 2, with the Paint the Town Green contest, which takes place throughout campus and local businesses. Paint a window or decorate the office, whatever! Just make sure to show your Bobcat pride for everyone to see. Then judges will vote on the best dressed OHIO display the next day.

Thursday, Oct. 5 brings the excitement with the Yell Like Hell Pep Pally at Baker University Center parking lot. The event will feature the Marching 110 and The Singing Men of Ohio. The winner of the 2017 Cheermeister Award will also be in attendance as the guest of honor.

Saturday, Oct. 7 is the big day! The fun starts off with the Homecoming Parade and its many floats, banners and displays representing OHIO and the community. Afterward, get pumped for the game at the Bobcat Bash in Pepsi Tailgreat Park!

“The parade is my favorite part,” said Brian Heilmeier, senior assistant director for Student Activities. “You get to see so many students be involved and share their true Bobcat spirit.”  

Finally, watch OHIO take on Central Michigan at 2 p.m. on the field of Peden Stadium. You can reserve your tickets by calling 1-800-575-2287.
